What home feels like

Obertauern is both a peaceful retreat and a lively party hotspot – a serene winter wonderland just beyond the busy village center, and a vibrant après-ski hub right at its heart. Here, we know how to distinguish between the needs of relaxation seekers and family vacationers, and those of partygoers – and how to cater to them all. The infrastructure leaves nothing to be desired either: Obertauern is home to a doctor, pharmacy, supermarket, ATMs, hairdressers and stylists, taxis, sports and fashion shops, restaurants, and bars.

Winter Sports in Obertauern

Skiing is undoubtedly No.1 in Obertauern – but all sports are embraced with open arms here! Traditional disciplines meet trendy new favorites. Freestyle, snowboarding in the longplay park, snowkiting, and snow volleyball are all part of the mix. And of course, let’s not forget the winter classics under the glorious Alpine sun: winter walks, snowshoeing, tobogganing, romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides,

and ice stock – the abundant winter snowfall makes it all possible! If you prefer to gain elevation without resorting to the lifts, you can go ahead and attach skins to touring skis. Several rewarding ski-touring routes can be found close to the ski area. Meanwhile, fans of Nordic skiing will also be in their element, with 26 kilometers of cross-country trails waiting to be explored.

Ready, set, let's hit the pistes!

Total Skiing Experiences

1 gondola lift, 18 chairlifts, 1 chair/gondola combo lift, and 6 tow lifts all contribute to the area's outstanding ski infrastructure. Didn’t get enough skiing during the daytime? Night skiing on the floodlit hill at the Edelweissbahn (from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. – included with your regular ski pass) makes for unforgettable moments on skis during your winter holiday.

Or be the very first at the lift and carve the very first tracks into freshly groomed slopes! For the early birds amongst you, three lifts actually start running every Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
